Moving on to middle school

Why not join Builders Club!

So you graduated from elementary school and you’re moving on to middle school in the fall. Congratulations! Starting the year at a new school is exciting, but it can also be a little scary. It takes some time to get used to a new place, a new schedule and new friends.

Here are a few ideas to help you feel a little less nervous and a little more at home.

  • Eat with a friend. Plan to eat lunch with someone you know.
  • Remember what’s important to you. Keep something familiar with you during the day. Your K-Kids Happy Book will make you feel good.
  • Join Builders Club. Builders Club is similar to a K-Kids club for middle school students. Plan to attend the first Builders Club meeting in the fall to have fun and make new friends the whole year.

If your new school doesn’t have a Builders Club, talk to the school counselor or principal and ask about starting a club. You can ask them to contact your elementary school K-Kids faculty advisor to learn more. Find out more at www.kiwanis.org/charter.

Here’s a handy guide with information about how to start a Builders Club.
