“Student voice” happens when school leaders both believe students’ voice matters and they actively listen. This allows students to become co-leaders. In fact, one study shows the impact when students believe they have a voice in decision-making at school.* For instance, they are four times more likely to:
Believe teachers respect students
Think teachers enjoy working with students
Agree that teachers help them learn from their mistakes
Feel teachers encourage students to make decisions
This is where K-Kids comes in. When students are viewed as valued partners, they join administrators and staff in school leadership—taking it in a direction that benefits everyone.
K-Kids journal activity
K-Kids members are on an exciting journey. Help them get the most out of the club experience by encouraging reflection and asking them to document what they learn. With these
first few pages of the K-Kids journal workbook, members can discover what they are passionate about, understand why they want to make a difference, and envision who they will be in the future.
Be sure to follow K-Kids on Facebook to receive new worksheet pages each month until May 2017.
